Mangere East Primary School gives their wireless network an extreme makeover with Ruckus Wireless
Students and staff were frustrated at Mangere East Primary School. They were facing problems connecting to the wireless network, and even when they could, the Wi-Fi signal was weak, performance was poor and staying connected was nearly impossible.
Mangere East Primary school is located in the Mangere suburb of Auckland, with a roll count of 582 year 1-6 students and 32 staff. The Decile One school has taken a leading position with respect to technology, having leased and purchased Apple MacBooks and iMac desktops, digital projectors and a Mac-based school radio station, and has now implemented a state-of-the-art wireless network across the whole school with Ruckus Wireless.
“As a school, we wanted learning to occur anywhere within the school site on a wireless platform, therefore we needed network connectivity everywhere and all the time” says Anthony Noble-Campbell, Principal at Mangere East Primary School. “We wanted a solution that had the capability to handle increases in users as we believe our school roll will continue to grow in the future. Ruckus Wireless provided us exactly what we were looking for.”
Mangere East Primary wanted to implement a completely robust and coordinated system that could be managed and administered from a central point, and one which would be capable of supporting staff and students increased use of mobile internet devices in the future. And because the budget was limited, the Wi-Fi system had to be cost-effective and easy to maintain.
