Below is a list for our standard course outlines. Each course can be adapted to suit the needs of your school or learning institution.
Got a New Mac?
Prerequisite: Participants should have minimal experience on a Macintosh computer.
This course has been designed for those who are new to a computer. This course will examine the latest Mac OS (operating system) and will focus on the following aspects: the desktop, finding your way around the computer, working with the dock, organising your files, how to create and save documents, basic internet searching and finding the help menu. This is a great way to learn about your new machine and to ask questions in a small working environment. 3 hours
Migrating to Mac OS X
Prerequisite: Participants should be familiar with an earlier Macintosh Operating System
This course has been designed to help previous Mac or PC users migrate to the OS X client Operating System. This course will examine the new features of OS X, working with the dock, organising files, the system preferences, setting up your machine how you would like to, saving options, selecting and setting the preferences of printers, creating pdf's, working with a network and shortcuts for making your transition easier. 3 hours
iLife
Prerequisite: Participants should have a basic knowledge of the Macintosh.
This course looks at the applications that are available in the iLife bundle, including iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb and iDVD. Participants will have an opportunity to look at: organising your music, creating music albums, downloading music, importing images, organizing your photos, editing and enhancing photos, publishing photos, creating a basic movie from photos, movie techniques, creating your own music tracks, basic web page design, how to create a basic DVD and the interconnectivity of the iLife bundle. A full workshop that gives you a good overview of all the products within iLife Suite. 5 hours
iPhoto
Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Macintosh.
This course will examine the following features of iPhoto: Connecting your digital camera, downloading images, creating new albums, naming files, working with the edit functions to alter images, creating booklets for printing, creating different themes, and the different options for sharing your photos including web pages, printing, screen savers and exporting to other programmes. 3 hours
iTunes
Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Macintosh.
This course will examine the following features of iTunes: Importing music from a variety of sources, creating new playlists, different play options (including adding visuals), setting the equalizer, preparing cd's for burning and burning your own music cd's. 2 hours
iMovie
Prerequisites: Participants should have a good knowledge of the Macintosh Operating System.
During this course participants will examine: Using the shelves, editing and importing mode, selecting specific clips, adding text, sounds, records from music cd's and transitions and the various exporting options available. Learn to download from video, import into iMovie, edit and play your new movies in this easy to use programme. 3 hours
GarageBand - Music Creation
Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Macintosh.
This course will examine the following features of GarageBand; creating a new song, selecting loops, adding loops, lengthening a loop, splitting tracks, transposing a loop, arranging your timeline, editor view, volume control, midi loops, vocal tracks, keyboard tracks, musical typing, timing and exporting your song. 3 hours
GarageBand - Podcast Creation
Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Macintosh.
This course will examine the following features of GarageBand; Selecting a podcast, adding graphics, adding graphic details, vocal tracks, vocal transformer, changing view, column view, jingles, radio sounds, music loops, lengthening a loop, types of loops and exporting your creation. 3 hours
iWeb
Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Macintosh.
This course will examine the following features of iWeb; selecting a template, welcome page, navigation bar, text style, text format and colour, text lists, additional text, adding photos, altering graphics, shapes, resizing, new pages, page features, hyperlinks, photo pages, blog pages, podcast pages, preferences and publishing. 3 hours
iCal
Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Macintosh.
This course will examine the following features of iCal: creating a new calendar, altering colour, adding an event and adding details to the event, All Day Events, Time Zones, inviting attendees to an event and replying to an invitation, repeating an event, event reminders, URLs and notes, creating a To Do list and adding details, finding an event or To Do item, managing birthdays, sharing your calendar, exporting, importing and printing. 3 hours
Mail & Address Book
Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Macintosh.
This course will examine the following features of Mail and Address Book: setting up email accounts, viewing mail, creating a message, attachments, spelling, junk mail, mailboxes and smart mailboxes, moving messages, flagging, searching mail, signatures and importing addresses from another email application; creating a new Address Book contact, using spotlight, creating contact groups and Smart Groups, printing envelopes and pocket-sized address books, setting preferences, changing formats, sending SMS messages and Bluetooth transfers. 3 hours
Pages
Prerequisite: Participants should have basic computer knowledge.
During this course participants will examine; work with a template or a blank document, altering text, styles, quick changing of styles, layout breaks, columns, graphics, shapes, tables, charts, hyperlinks, bookmarks, adding movies, spelling, headers and footers and creating your own templates. 3 hours
Numbers
Prerequisite: Participants should have basic computer knowledge.
During this course participants will examine basic features of a spreadsheet and features specific to Numbers – Intelligent Tables, Flexible Canvas, Interactive print view, Charts and Tables. 3 hours
Keynote
Prerequisite: Participants should have basic computer knowledge.
During this course participants will examine; creating and designing a new presentation, applying template designs, working with the drawing toolbar, working with colours and fills, creating bullet slides, adding clipart and graphics, basic graphing and applying animation, transitions and running a slideshow. 3 hours
I Can Animate
Prerequisite: Participants should be competent with the basic aspects of a computer
During this course participants will explore the following features of the programme 'I Can Animate'; using a camera, capturing a frame, previewing, sharing your moving, clips and frames, preview settings, onion skinning, compositing, creating new clips, clip settings, frame settings, duplicating, drawing tools, grouping shapes, camera settings, time lapse, chroma keying, sharing, exporting and preferences. 3 hours
